{"id":230,"date":"2010-03-08T15:32:20","date_gmt":"2010-03-08T15:32:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.propertydecorating.co.uk\/blog\/?p=230"},"modified":"2010-03-08T15:32:20","modified_gmt":"2010-03-08T15:32:20","slug":"how-to-paint-an-interior-wall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.propertydecorating.co.uk\/blog\/?p=230","title":{"rendered":"How to paint an interior wall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"floatright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.propertydecorating.co.uk\/assets\/painting_wall.jpg\" alt=\"Graphic of equipment\" title=\"Graphic of tools needed for painting a wall, paint tin, roller tray, roller, brush and paint kettle\"  \/><\/p>\n<h1>How to paint an interior wall<\/h1>\n<h2>To start gather all the equipment needed<\/h2>\n<p>You will need:<\/p>\n<ul id=\"bullet\">\n<li>Dustsheets \u2013 To cover floor and furniture<\/li>\n<li>A brush \u2013 1&frac12; or 2 inch<\/li>\n<li>A roller cage \u2013 for the roller sleeve to go onto<\/li>\n<li>A roller sleeve \u2013 for smooth walls use a fine or medium pile roller, ideally a 9-inch sleeve<\/li>\n<li>A roller tray \u2013 big enough for a 9-inch roller<\/li>\n<li>A paint kettle \u2013 to tip some paint into for cutting in<\/li>\n<li>Paint \u2013 The paint for the walls, normally emulsion (use our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.propertydecorating.co.uk\/paint_coverage_calculator.php\">paint calculator<\/a> to determine how much paint you need)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>First cover the floor and furniture with dustsheets. Next open your tin of paint and stir well, tip a small amount into the paint kettle, then fill the paint tray.<\/p>\n<p>Now cut in (i.e paint around the edge) using the brush and kettle, cut in around one wall at a time including any sockets or switches.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have cut in, take your roller and get some paint onto it, roll it on the tray to work the paint into the roller sleeve and get it all around the sleeve.<\/p>\n<p>Now take the roller and roll it over the wall, it is best to roll in a \u2018W\u2019 motion, this will ensure you don\u2019t end up with lines and also will give a nice even coat across the wall.
