Don’t make a mess – catch the dust!

How to Catch Dust While Drilling Into a Wall

When you have decorated your room and it’s time to put the room back, put up pictures, curtain rails/poles you don’t want to have brick dust all over your newly decorated room.

To avoid the brick dust or plasterboard dust from falling down the wall whilst drilling here is a great tip!

Stage 1

Get a small bag, such as a freezer bag or paper bag.

Stage 2

Graphic of a roll of masking tape (copyrignt Adrian Rayfield)
Get a roll of masking tape or similar.

Stage 3

Graphic of a freezer bag with masking tape folded over one edge (copyrignt Adrian Rayfield)
Take a length of masking tape and fold it over one edge of the open end of the bag to stiffen the edge and prevent the bag from closing.

Stage 4

Take another length of masking tape and stick it on the inside of the other open side (do not fold over and ensure the sticky side is facing outwards) allowing you to stick the open bag to the wall.

Stage 5

Take the non folded taped side and stick it to the wall, just below where you will be drilling, open out the bag

Stage 6

Drill the wall and you will catch all the dust and grit in the bag!

Job…. DONE

It’s as simple as that!
